The Evolution of Content Marketing
The Evolution of Content Marketing
- Advertising needs attention. Attention needs content. Without content, there are no ads. Ads interrupt people with a commercial message when people are reading.
- Advertising exists because brands do not produce content. Instead, they leverage publications that produce content. Publications are independent businesses (Complexity).
- Today, every brand can become a publisher. The internet has leveled the playing field.
- When you can get attention to your brand with quality content (and marketing), there is no need for advertising. You can advertise your content instead of your products.
- Media companies that only sell ads are dying. Ads alone are not enough to generate good revenue (because people hate ads and the internet gives people the option to block ads).
- Subscription-based content means content becomes the product. Also leads to quality.
